Conductor and Arts Administrator Marc David named
Executive and Artistic Director of the Canimex – Canadian Music Competition!
Montreal, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 – The Canimex – Canadian Music Competition is pleased to announce the appointment of conductor and arts administrator Marc David as Executive and Artistic Director! Adding to a rich musical career of 35 years, Marc David is also the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Emeritus of the Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil.
The recipient of several awards – including the Medal of the National Assembly of Quebec – Marc David has been familiar with the Competition for many years, having been a jury member for the Stepping Stone, in addition to assisting his daughter who participated several times as a pianist. The members of the board of directors are convinced that his artistic expertise, his enthusiasm, and his vision of the Competition’s future are directly in line with the ongoing pursuit of the organization’s mission.

His first initiative as head of the Canimex – Canadian Music Competition was to create the position of Deputy Executive and Artistic Director and to recruit Alexandra Lorange to fill the role. With over fifteen years of professional experience, first as a conductor, and later as a jurist and arts administrator, Ms. Lorange is known for her positive leadership qualities and analytical spirit.
