The registration fees for the Canadian Music Competition and the Stepping Stone Competition have been standardized and are now the same all across Canada. This new registration structure guarantees that the National Organization will have enough financial resources for its development and that it will be able to enhance the experience of every candidate, especially during the Stepping Stone. The Stepping Stone is breaking new ground and distinguishes itself from other competitions by integrating candidate’s pre-selection within a Great National Audition, prior to the regular Competition, which will be held in each section. A Stepping Stone candidate’s experience will be enhanced from an educational point of view: they will obtain written comments from five judges from the pre-selection process held in each section and will also be able to meet them (if the schedule permits it). This way, the Stepping Stone is affirming itself as a preparation for international competitions.

Registration fees

  • The CMC hopes for a contribution of $500 per candidate. This amount includes the registration fee ($300) and a suggested donation of $200 (at the discretion of the candidate) for which an income tax receipt will be emitted by the Canadian Music Competition*.

  • Repertoire modification fee: $0
  • Cancellation fee: $50
    Registration fees for cancellations received before can be reimbursed. There is a cancellation fee of $50 and the donation part is not refundable. There are no refund past this date (rule 4.2).
  • NSF cheque fee: $15

* The real functioning costs for a Competition with the scope of the CMC and the Stepping Stone Competition is way higher than the registration cost and represents an investment of at least $1000 per candidate. We wish that candidates contribute 50% of this amount; all the while knowing that the donation part is at the discretion of the candidate.
