The 2021 edition of the Canimex CMC includes certain vitally important adjustments to ensure our candidates’ safety. Activities will take place in a single round, with the National Audition, which will be held in performance halls behind closed doors. The National Final and Gala Concert are cancelled.
Jurys will be made up of 5 members: 3 local judges will audition the candidates in performance halls and 2 permanent judges will do so remotely. Volunteers, performance hall employees, accompanists, participants, and family members who come to the auditions in person will have to comply with a strict safety protocol, meeting the requirements of public health authorities.
The repertoire requirements have been revised and adapted in order to maintain the Competition’s pedagogical objectives. For details, see the Repertoire Requirements section of the website.
The National Auditions will take place in performance halls as a closed-door activity, at the end of April and in May of 2021. No practice studios will be available at the audition sites.
Grand prizes will be attributed in each of the major age categories: 7-10 years old, 11-14 years old, 15-18 years old, and 19-25 years old—up to 30 years old for Voice. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place rankings will be attributed in each of the age and instrument categories. The announcement of the results for each of the major age categories will take place virtually, once the judges have completed their evaluation of all candidates.
If access to performance halls — a key criteria in ensuring fairness for all of our participants — is compromised, the 2021 competitive edition will be transformed into a non-competitive edition.
This year, the CMC is innovating by simplifying its registration process and going green. Candidates are being asked to submit digital versions of their registration forms and all necessary documents, including scores, to a single site: the Acceptd platform Inscription CMC Registration | Acceptd (getacceptd.com).
