Candidates registered for any Piano category between 7 and 15 years old may choose repertoire from an older age category up to a maximum of 2 years. For example, a candidate registered in Piano 15 years old can select repertoire from Piano 16 years old and 17 years old. However, the candidate must respect the time limit of the category in which he is registered.
The musical program of the first round must include contrasting works and movements so that the candidate’s musicality can be heard in various tempi (slow and fast).
- J.S. Bach: One Little Prelude and Fugue or one Prelude and Fugue.
- One movement of a sonata by C.P.E. Bach, Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven, or Variations by Mozart, Beethoven or Haydn.
- One work or a group of movements or one movement of your choice or more than one work or parts of works from the same composer.
- One work with orchestra or one movement or a group of movements.
