New at CMC!

It is with pleasure that we welcome Sarah Joyal to the position of production coordinator, communication and relations with the regions. Sarah studied music at CÉGEP de Sherbrooke and Université de Montréal before completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management of Cultural Organizations at HEC. Her professional experience as an executive assistant and logistics at the École des jeunes de la Faculté de musique de l’Université de Montréal is an asset for the annual organization of the Canadian Music Competition.

Welcome to Sarah!

CMC staff also relies on Sandra Corneau as artistic coordinator, development and special projects. Sandra joined the CMC team in January 2014 as tour assistant. Responsible of the national tour, Sandra is also collaborating in the development of educational and artistic programs of the Competition.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Robert Browne, who was the Treasurer of the Oakville-Mississauga Chapter for several years. M. Browne was a dedicated volunteer in his chapter and for the CMC, particularly in fundraising. Judith Harris accepted to replace him as the Treasurer of Oakville-Mississauga Chapter, chaired by Diana Isherwood.

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Mrs. Andrée Charron Parent passed away last December. Mrs. Charron Parent was a volunteer for the Competition for more than 50 years. She has served as the President of the Montréal Chapter for decades. She organized a lot of fundraising campaigns, including an annual ball in Spring and a Fall fashion show, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars. We extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

We also inform you that the Mauricie et Centre-du-Québec Chapter will now be represented by Gabrielle Lafond on the CMC Board of Directors. Special thanks to his predecessor, Fernand Gendron, who will continue to serve as Vice-President of the Mauricie et Centre-du-Québec Chapter, chaired by Lise Gendron.

Finally, we would also like to welcome Geneviève Deschamps, who is joining the Montréal Chapter committee, chaired by Yolande Cardinal. Ms. Deschamps is the daughter of Claude Deschamps and Lorraine Prieur, founding members of the CMC.

Marie-Claude Matton, Executive Director
