Yu Kai Sun, Jeunesses Musicales Canada Special Prize Winner

In collaboration with the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation, the CMC is pleased to award the loan of a violin and bow to violinist Yu Kai Sun, the first-place winner in the National Final, Strings 16 years old category.

Valued at $20,000, the “Rigoletto” violin by Wilbaux, built in Montreal in 2008 and based on the 1738 “Kemp” violin by J. Guarneri del Gesù, and the 2008 bow made by Emmanuel Bégin will be loaned for a two-year period to this outstanding Montréal violonist. The competition was open to violinists participating in the 15-25 years-old categories in all three rounds of the 2015 CMC.
