The 2014 CMC is in Full Swing!

Hundreds of classical musicians will begin competing in the first round of the 56th edition of the Canadian Music Competition! The kick-off took place yesterday in Québec City. The competition will continue throughout Canada in 14 other Canadian cities. Close to 500 musicians will participate again this year in six categories: piano, strings, voice, winds, guitar and chamber music.

The judges of the regional and provincial rounds are: Solange Bouchard (strings), Marc Bourdeau (piano), Chantal Dubois (winds), Lana Henchell (piano), Sibylle Marquardt (winds), Michelle Sutton (voice), Veronica Thomas (strings) and Line Villeneuve (piano). After the regional and provincial rounds, the 2014 National Final will be held from June 20 to July 3 at Université Laval in Québec City. The results will be announced on July 4, followed by the Gala Concert with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec on July 5, at the Palais Montcalm.
