On November 23, 2010, at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, the Ontario Chapter of the CMC presented “Setting the Stage”, a gala concert featuring some of Canada’s most promising artists, all past winners of the CMC. Music lovers gathered for the occasion had the chance to hear violinists Leslie Ashworth and Nicole Li, soprano Lucia Cesaroni and pianist Annie Zhou, plus pianist Maxim Bernard, winner of the 2006 Stepping Stone, who interpreted Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto accompanied by the Toronto Concert Orchestra under the baton of conductor Kerry Stratton.

Co-chaired by Gisèle Fredette and Don Pangman, the benefit evening raised $60,000 for the Ontario Chapter of the CMC. These funds will not only help Ontario’s best young musicians both in their continued learning and in the development of their careers, but will also help to bring the National Final to Toronto in 2012.
