Violinist Kerson Leong: First Prize at the Menuhin Competition

Violinist Kerson Leong — Grand Prize winner in the 11 to 14 year-old category at the 2009 Canadian Music Competition — has just won the First Prize in the Junior Category at the prestigious Menuhin Competition, held last week in Oslo. The King of Norway awarded Kerson with the prize, in the amount of 40,000 NOK ($7,000 Canadian), at a Gala Concert on April 25. Kerson also performed Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen at the concert, with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. Also of note is the fact that the event was broadcast throughout Europe by Norwegian television…
