Passing away of Gisèle B Cabana, Honorary President

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Mrs. Gisèle B Cabana, Honorary President of the Canadian Music Competition. A devoted volunteer since 1966, she not only assumed the presidency of the Mauricie Centre-du-Québec CMC chapter from 1975 to 2000, but also that of the Concours de musique du Québec from 1986 to 2009, and the Canadian Music Competition from 1999 to 2008. Her involvement, her enthusiasm, and her devotion have greatly contributed to the success of the CMC and have earned her numerous honours and distinctions including the Order of Canada in 2001.

Mrs. Gisèle Beaudoin Cabana passed away peacefully in Trois-Rivières on September 29. Loving spouse of the late Paul Cabana, she was preceded in death by her sisters Françoise and Mariette. She leaves behind her children: Claude, Danièle (Maurice Proulx), Marie-Andrée (Stéphane Lambert); her grand-children: Alexandre Cabana, Stéphanie and Geneviève Cabana-Proulx; her brother: Marius Beaudoin (Françoise Drolet); her sister: Céline Beaudoin (Gustave Racine); her nieces: Marie-France Beaudoin, Marie-Hélène Racine, Louise and Thérèse Chevalier, their spouses and children; as well as many friends and colleagues of the Canadian Music Competition.
